Sony is about to release the first commercial Blu-Ray disc recorder the BDZ-S77 . What are people's thoughts? Does this new format have a future when it's being released so soon after DVD?

My thoughts are I'd love to see Sony adopt this technology for portable MD units. I would imagine on the small size discs they'd still get a 1 or 2 GB per disc and it would be great to carry around a few discs like that.
