Heard the USB Version at the High End in Munich (Germany) and found it being quite consistent with the "normal" Lehmann Headphone Amp. Neutral as always. As Norbert used his own Laptop I had no idea how much effort he had used to get the MP3 from CD (e.g. EAC) or which encoding he used. So overall it was difficult to judge the DAC.

For me personally the most interesting upcomming contender will be Jan Meier's Opera which will in addition to USB have a coax and analog input.

Hello,

I aimed to have the units in the stores in September, that's right. However I had to wait for some hard to obtain SMD parts for the series production.

Right now the units are being built. I will be out of office for the next two weeks and hope to get the first completed BCL USB some days after my return. Will then still take some time until they reach any store in the US. I just tested the first samples of the batch of USB boards which will be added to the Black Cube Linear and could definitely give my OK to them.

I will make appropriate noise upon availability of the units.

Price in Germany will be 900,- EUR including VAT.

@Reiner

during the High End in Munich I used direct CD reproduction and some 320k files.

Kind regards from Germany

Norbert

As Jan Meier's will also be 900 Euro one has to choose ... which will to my opinion very difficult or very easy.

Difficult because in my believe both have high class headphone amps and very probable great DACs. Easy (only maybe), sine they up to now tended to have distinct differences in their "sound" concept.

Best, Reiner

I'm a new owner of Lehmann BCL and a something peculiar with this amp. When I configure the gain switch to very loud +20 DB, and when I turned the volume knob to 12 o'clock with HD800 hooked up. I hear a hissing noise. Is this a norm? Anyone?
