To go from my laptop to my DAC-AH I will need a USB to Optical unit. There is:

USB Sound Box $25
Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro $25
M-Audio - Transit $70

I worry about audio quality. For example I know that the Advantage Micro resamples. I also don't want the frills that the M-Audio Transit offers. Optimally I just want the unit to take the USB signal and output optical without processing.

Audiotrak Optoplay with ASIO4ALL installed gives you bit perfect optical output.

You will need a player that supports ASIO playback.

The optoplay can be had for $40. The Downside is that it can not pass DD/DTS from an arbitrary software DVD player.

It seems like the Optoplay is not available. I'm not sure if its a temporary stock shortage, or if it is out of production.

Does the transit do any form of resampling? I am interested in the best option if I only want to do USB-SPDIF.
