My new (lightly-used) Accent got hit with its first bird poop today.

I washed it off with water, but I have no idea how long it might have been there, and I think I left a little permanent dull spot. Hyundai's clear coat/paint is supposedly, shall we say, not all that thick , so I'm worried about using any kind of polish on it. Maybe just wash and wax the car thoroughly?

Also, has anybody tried a product I saw online called Poop-Off for Cars?

Since when did bird poop affect car finish? We have a couple Hondas, both green, and neither have ever had any trouble with stuff like bird poop. Just take it through the car wash and it'll come right off.

The problem is that waste is acidic, and hence can eat away at finish. Our toyota's paintjobs have been affected by neglected bird poop unfortunately. One car body specialist advised us to do the following:
Take a towel or papertowel. Soak it in some hot water, and place it on the birdpoop. then, once it's loosened, wipe it off in circular uh...wipes.
that was...it. lol
Haven't tried it, but he's an awesome body specialist, so I think he knows what he was talking about lol.
just my 2 cents

Can't say that I've use the product Poop-Off, but for dull spots on the clearcoat surface resulting from bird poop, acid rain, tree sap etc. I would use a quality non-abrasive polishing compound such the ones from Mothers or Meguiars available at you nearest auto parts store. Non-abrasive polishing compound or cleaner from the two above mentioned companies should do the trick in bring back the shine.
