Recently, a bird has made the little garden outside my house as its home. I'd like to know more about this bird starting with what type/species of bird this is.

Here's a photo that I took of it:

It has a bit of yellow on its wings and body. Bird aficionados, I await your reply!

You could try WhatBird | identify birds | bird identification guide | north america

It's helped me identify a strange looking bird that was found awfully confused in my yard after a big storm passed through.

OTOH it completely failed to give me any clue as to the identity of the small, entirely black (all feathers, beak, feet, everything black) birds i saw frolicking in the shallows of a lake near my office. As black as a raven, but way too small, wrong beak, wrong tail, etc. whatbird.com utterly failed to give me any clues, kept suggesting birds with red or brown plumage.

Good call, I think that must be it. Although most pictures I've found of the crimson sunbird are crimson birds.

I had no idea that the national bird of Singapore is right outside my front door, I didn't even know Singapore had a national bird. Thanks for the help!

*Hmm, actually it may be a yellow bellied sunbird. I've got to really look at the bird again to check.
