I know these headphones get a bad rep, but right now they are $250 and get free shipping over at Musicians Friend:

Buy Audio-Technica ATH-AD1000 Open Air Dynamic Headphones | Studio Headphones | Musician's Friend

Though they are pretty much exclusively classical and jazz cans from what I've read, and they do err on the bright side, this is a damn good deal. I don't know how many are left in stock so this might be a short time offer. If they aren't nice, resell them for a profit (

!) and get some AD900s or something for a bit more (never though I would have to say that sentence...).

I ordered a pair to go along with my Grado 325i as those just plain stink when it comes to listening to jazz and classical (in my opinion of course), aren't so comfy (fine, just not warm fuzzy bunnies comfy), but I love me those tiny details and tend to go for brighter cans. I'll do a review (as reviews of these are not common) once they come, get burned in and I have some hours listening to them.

These are actually tempting! I don't listen to enough jazz and classical to justify spending $250 on a headphone only good for those genres though.

That is a great deal. I have been wanting to hear the high end (non woody) AT cans...

AD1000 are very very good cans, yes they have bad reputation and dont know why? Problem is source I think becose most of the people dont wrote their equipment and it is the most important thing for full size cans.
My next and last upgrade will be AD2000

It's a half-assed attempt by ATH, all in all it's barely better than the AD700/AD900. And not really worth the $400 street price. But $250 is a very good price for them.

Good luck with that. I don't know how many times I've told myself "this is my last upgrade".

actually I don't feel so bad anymore I thought these were the AD2000's

AT's naming schemes are too confusing for me
