Hey guys,

This has been driving me nuts... I've got a Bifrost Uber with the Gen 2 USB input card and for whatever reason the connection to my Mac Mini will randomly drop out. Zero issues with the optical input.

I've done tons of research online and all fingers point to needed a powered USB hub (which I personally think is BS). So I went out and bought s $30 USB hub for my $600 DAC and it's STILL dropping out. Arg...

I have noticed when I reboot my Mac Mini, I have better luck with the USB input staying available, so this may also be an issue with the computer itself. Although, I did have the same problem with the DAC connected to my Pi, so I'm still blaming the Bifrost at this point.

Anyone have a similar experience with this on a Mac Mini or other Apple computer? I'm just about ready to sell this thing and move on...

Best,

Justin

This is a common issue with USB DACs that are not optimized for USB. This includes the Bifrost.

Try this first and report back.

Ever since updating to El Capitan on my Mac Mini I've had a couple of issues with my Master 11. It would not recognize it and then it worked flawlessly for a month or so. Just today the Mini stopped recognizing it again. Need to test on a Windows computer and see if I have the same issue.

As an update, I swapped out my Blue Jeans USB cable for a $3 cable from my local electronics store and haven't had an issue yet... doesn't seem to have been OSX or DAC related as far as I can tell based on my testing.
