100+ Head-Fier
I recently added new pads to my T5P Gen 1 and wanted to share my experience.
I decided to go with the Dan Clark Alpha Pads (https://danclarkaudio.com/shop/accessories/ear-pads/alpha-pads-genuine-lamb-leather.html) based on recommendations from this thread. While they do fit over the ends of the headphones, that blocks the porting and they sound pretty awful. I considered drilling some new ports ion the back of the ear cup but found a better solution. I ordered some VHB tape from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LXLHU9O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for like $8. I cut out holes to allow the headphones to port as designed.
Ear comfort and isolation are improved. Sound signature is largely the same, the bass is slightly improved but marginal. The headband is significantly less comfortable with these pads. I have ordered some Dekoni Audio Nuggets to see if that helps.
The cable mod is next. Dan Clark sells their four-pin connectors on their website, so I ordered those when I bought the pads. If anyone has any good advice for me before I break something, it will be greatly appreciated.
