Are you planning on to sell one or to buy one?

Just wondering how far to go in a bidding war on ebay. :)
Oh eBay. I have no idea to be honest, especially if bidding on international and not to forget the shipping fees and custom taxes and importing taxes. Hard to tell but if it was me, probably maximum of €500? Because of no invoice and thus no warranty and Beyerdynamic also might reject the headphone because of not authorized shop. However, headphones don't break easily unless you treat it like crap and place it somewhere with full of kids.

Thanks. Somewhere around EUR700 is a new one at amazon.de.

You're right, I see it too. Funny enough it's €759 here in Netherland on a webstore with physical store.

Be sure not to overpay and make sure you have a limit that you don't want/can't exceed it and look for information on the fees and other potential taxes.

Great decision to get this headphone.
Make sure you'll drive it with proper amplification.
Know them very well and it's behavoirs.
T1 is known to get high in impedance at certain frequencies, way above 1000 ohm at 100Hz for example.

If i were you, i'd look at his "little brother" T5p too. ;)
Way more easier to drive with it's impedance of 32 Ohm.

Anyway, the T1 is a great headphone, especially for genres like rock etc.

Good luck with your bidding. :)

Yeah, the little brother T5p is a very amazing headphone too. I own this. Treble is bright, non-fatigue, details are very clear, soundstage is very good too and it looks more slicker than T1 but that's subjective. I got this for one solely reason: easier to drive with everything. You can't go wrong with the T1 but as the other guy said: make sure to get a proper amp if you plan on getting this one. Good luck with bidding!

Probably I'll let it go in the end unless it stays where it is now. No taxes etc. within Europe. For example, there are so many good deals here on headfi from the US but those we in Europe have to pass up due to all the taxes etc.

Thanks for your input.
I do not have an amp apart from my Marantz CD player with a decent headphone amp built in or my Technics A800S amp headphone out. I plan to use it thru those. Do you think they may not be enough?
The T5p is also on my radar and in many aspect like impedance it would be a better choice but the cons are the short cable (replaceable) and the slightly inferior sound to the T1. And also much more expensive as new.
All in all the T5p might be a better choice for me, maybe.

Yes, I might be better off with the T5p due to the pros like impedance, closed (not disturbing the family that much if around), etc. More expensive though.

Hi.
I don't know much about your sources.
What i know is that the T1 needs a proper amplification to sound best.

For the T5p, i've never auditioned this headphones.
To get other insights in a comparison between the T1 and T5p i asked a head-fi member within his sales thread about his opinion.
This is what a was asking:
Hi Rob.

How is the sound of the T5p in comparison to T1.2?
I'm curios to know the difference, if it exists, first hand. :)
Have listen to the T1.2 of a friend of mine.
While the mids (vocals) are a bit off, the overall sound is pretty decend.
Like it with rock and metal while i'm enjoying other genres with my Quad.

Does the lower impedance make a hugh difference?
It takes a bit to get used to the sound signature of the T1, but it's a great headphone at all, which is hard to drive properly.

Many thanks for reading my questions. :)

Hi Chris, I had overlooked and discounted both of these in the past, but I actually really like both of them now and they’re good value for money now they’re getting old. In terms of a comparison, they are surprisingly different from one another and it’s not just a case the t.2 sounding like and
open T5p and vice versa. The T5p is way easier to drive and it does make a difference on lesser amplification. They have a much more up front presentation, feels slightly more neutral across the range without the obvious recess in the mids or the slightly sting in the very top which can show on the t1.2. I’m coming from focal
stellias and I have to say there’s something of similarity in the even handed forward nature of the T5p, even if it’s done in a different way. The stage is obviously smaller than the t1 but I enjoy how focused they sound and still very well seperated. The top is clear with plenty of snap but unlike the t1 it never gets closer for the edge and while not full compared to some the mids and top are fuller than the t1.

The bass resolution is way better on the t1 but it’s not as dynamic and switching between the two the t1 can sound slow, which they don’t when I’ve been listening to them alone. On that note when switching between the two the t1.2 definitely comes off worse sounding veiled and dark by comparison, which again after a couple hours with the t1 exclusively is not as much of an issue.

If I had to pick one it would be the T5p, not for practical reasons, I just have preference for a focused soundstage with and up front dynamic tuning. Having spent a long time demo‘Ing the closed back market, and despite their age I’d have the T5p in my top 3 and nobodies more shocked by that statement than me.

1. Stellia
2. Zmf VC
3. T5p
4. Elegia
5. Mr speakers ether c
6. LCD XC closed
7. Denon ahd 9200
Etc

Now i've to go for an audition to make my own opinion on the T5p. ^^

My pleasure.
Forgot to mention that he owns both of the beyers.

After this conversation he rejected his sale. ^^
