I purchased some DT880's in 2007 (in Japan) and they're still going strong. Used everyday, but the earbuds are looking a little worse for wear.
 
I know the 880 has changed shape since the model I have (the model I have pictured below)

I have looked for the dimensions and can't find them listed anywhere.
 
Certain earpad's on the beyer website and other sites have 880 listed, but I need to know if the new 880 pads are compatable with the previous model, I figured a forum would be the quickest way of getting a response.
 
EDT 770 VB on the beyerdynamic website has the following listed as compatable:
DT770, 511, 801, 831, 880 old, 901 & CUSTOM ONE PRO
but on eBay the EDT 770 V (the loss of the B just meaning they're silver, not black) only have the following listed. not mentioning '880 old'
DT 770, DT 511, DT 770PRO, DT 801, DT 831 & DT 901
 
I assume '880 old' would be my model as listed on the beyer site, that those eBay ones are the same size as the compatable and the lack of '880old' is just an oversight, but before spending money to import from Germany I need to be sure.

To the best of my knowledge, they all use the same size ear pads, but the DT880/DT990 use the EDT990 and the DT770 uses the EDT770, I believe the EDT770 is firmer then the EDT990.
So you can use the EDT770 ear pads on the DT880, but the EDT990 are the recommended ear pad for your DT880.

My best guess.
I'm believe that in the past the DT880 used the same EDT770 ear pads as the DT770, but now the DT880 uses the EDT990 ear pads, the EDT770 and EDT990 are the same size ear pads, but the EDT990 uses less dense foam on the inside.
 
Maybe Beyerdynamic needs to remove the "old DT880" reference, as it may not apply anymore.
