Hey guys,

I came up with a mod which increases sound quality. It makes the sound cleaner, more detailed and an even bigger soundstage, with everything else unaffected. All you have to do is remove the black foam pad under the earpad off. All you will need is a flathead screw driver to take off the plastic ring. I will put up photos upon request.

Highs are really unaffected? Crazy, if thats the case... I'll attempt it tomorrow. Is the foam glued in or just sitting there?

The foam is just sitting there. The thing is, is that I'm keeping on the black foam on because there is slightly more bass impact with them on, but the mids and highs are cleaner without it. Without them, they sound much better for rock, classical etc.

LazBro123, could you show photos? Or make instructions. I think that would be a cool thing to do.

The dt 990s have not had any mods posted because well there's not much to be done to change up the sound quality. Granted that's not to say mods are not possible, but I have a feeling there's a lot more your not hearing about this mod. I mean the only mod for the dt 880 is one to make it a closed back can... Byer cans aren't ones ppl mod lol they are already great.

That being said, I wouldn't attempt this mod until LazBro has some serious pictures. Another thing to mention he is selling a pair of Dt 990s... I'm curious as to how reversable that mod really is...

Don't mean to make so many accusations again'st you LazBro but there's just not enough evidance that your mod really does much of anything positive, in addition your selling them shortly after you've attempted a mod... why is that

I did the mod and it was meh, the other mod to transform the 990 into a 880 or vise versa was much more worthwhile... I'd post the link but I'm at working lol

I completely understand Mshenay! For the most part, I think they are just perfect. The other thread I started would be cool as a project for deeper ear cups. The only nuisance I find with my pair [Beyer Dynamic DT 990 PRO 250 ohm] is that it has a coiled cable..... I would of prefered a straight cable but for the cost being $159, and it being suited towards studio use, I guess I can't complain. But it would of been nice because while I find the coiled cable nice for portable usage, its a bit too bulky for my liking.

This was three months ago. I thought it was just a cool mod. I'm selling these because I got an Ultrasone PRO 750.

Very good. And actually for those into Byer mods, there is the DARTH Byer which apprently can be applied onto a Dt 990,
