This is my first post on Head-Fi.
 
I just noticed the price of the Beyerdynamic DT800 600Ohm version has dramatically increased. On B&H Photo Video's website, this pair was offered until recently at 249$ US. Now it's 319$US. Bummer.

I'm not sure I'd pay that for a pair of headphones dedicated to mixing and mastering purposes, especially if it's the same product than the one available a few days ago.
 
(Yes, I know, using monitors is better, but for my modest needs and considering the lack of funds/space for a treated room I have no choice than rely on cans for a while).
 
I already have a pair of closed-back headphones (Sennheiser HD280 Pro). They'be nice for tracking and checking details, but to get a better idea of the soundstage of my recordings it sems I'd also need a pair of open-back headphones.
 
What would be an alternative to the DT880 600 Ohm in the open-back category, at around 250$US?

Yeah, the price does increase quite a bit. I would recommend AKG K702 but the downside is K702 needs a good amp (so does DT880-600).
