Hi guys, so I've been wanting to buy the Beyerdynamic DT770. I have a choice between the 80 ohms and 250 ohms. I heard the 80 ohms provide more bass while the 250 ohms provide more detailed sound. I think I'd prefer to go for a more detailed sound but I was worried that it'll be hard to drive them. I currently have an E11 but no DAC. So I was looking at the E07k. The E11s are said to be able to drive up to 300 ohms while the E07k are said to only be able to drive up to 150 ohms but some people said that they drive the 250 ohms with no trouble. So should I get the 250 ohms and stick with the E11 or the 80 ohms with the E07k or the 250 ohms with the E07k? Sorry if this was a bit confusing :p

What genres are you listening to? I personally find the 250 ohm to lack bass where as the 80 ohm has more. I think e07k will be a goodparing with the 80 ohm.

I have an E7. I've driven all of my cans with it (listed in my profile) including 600 Ohm Beyers. Aside from that, is it a good sounding unit? Not really, especially if you're looking for detail. I'd suggest an AQ Dragonfly. Good luck.

I agree with EDMaddict , the 250ohms lack bass unless you listen to something with hardcore bass like

But the 250 ohms are hard to pick up bass on trance.

odd. Personally I was expecting a lot more bass with these dt770's 250ohms.

I am to considering new hp's soon that has better bass.

As you stated you're not really going for a bass headphones. So the 250's might be your choice of meat.

My jvc HA-RX900's put out more bass than these 250ohms.

I would stick with the 80 ohm and the E11. This combo fit my needs for quite a while. 80 ohm is easier to drive than the 250. Although the 80 ohm is bassier, you still get a nice overall presentation.

Is the difference in bass big between the 250 ohms and 80ohms? Or is it just a slight difference? I'm leaning towards the 250 ohms and sticking with my E11. I feel like getting the E07k isn't much of an upgrade from the E11

I dont have the 250.  But I do have the Dt 880 pro 250ohm.  That needs a quite bit more amplification than the E11 to sound full.  For some songs, my 80 ohm DT's  needed high gain full volume for my E11 amp.

You are a madman.  I have an E11 and DT770/80 and with the internal gain switch set to low, the external gain switch set to low, at about 6-7 my headphones are screaming.  That is with my source (Rockboxed Sansa Clip+) at full volume.

If you noticed, thats why I said for some songs. I used zip clip and fuze+ rockbox with the E11. Although the volume was adequate, I craved more headroom.
