Hi there,

I was thinking of getting me a second pair of headphones for christmas. I currently have the HD 600 with a Rega Ear. My source is a Sony CDP-X559ES. I'm very happy with my setup but you know, that this can even become boring and sometimes I'd like to have a closed headphone to block out computer noise etc.
Since I'm listening to electronic and alternative most of the time the Beyerdynamic seems to be a good choice. And from time to time I'm playing some games on the computer. I heard the 80 ohm version is superior to the other models. Well, now my question: Is there an alternative (here in germany available...) for about 150 euro (with keeping the Sennheiser because it's a real good allrounder)?
Or is there something significantly better than the HD 600 (can be an open design) for let's say 350 euro (would be selling the HD 600 then)?

Hands down, the 770-80 is the ultimate computer game can. Look no further, you're home.

I actually did some testing of movie watching and gaming on the HD650 and DT770-250 and the HD650 was the winner. The HD650 still had the bass needed for explosions and such but everything was tighter and further defined than the DT770 and the dialog was more forward making speech intelligibility better overall. The DT770 had a better soundstage but it was not a big enough difference to overpower the strengths of the 650 in other areas.

If you need something sealed the DT770 is the way to go for sure!

How much isolation do you need? The K240s is semi-open and IMHO does attenuate high frequency noise (PC fan) well enough for my needs.

If you need isolation though, then yes the DT770 is what you want. I had a DT770 and was happy with it till I got a K240s, which now are my gaming and DVD cans. I also use an HD580 for DVDs and games too... sometimes I want a more balanced, less bassy sound so I use the senns.

Can only recommend my DT 770 PRO 80 ohm except that I got a hair in the left membrane. Must say they rock for music as well as gaming of course. Find them great for movies as well. Dialogue is of the least importance for me. Especially since with headphones it´s weird anyway no matter how good the talking sounds. For me the music, explosions etc is more important while watching movies. But still movies should be viewed with 5.1 speakers. Headphones just isn´t the same. Positioning gets all crappy.
