Hello,
there's virtually no info on these cans anywhere online.
I'm interested in opinions about these headphones from users.
How do they sound, can they be used unamped?

Hi,

First, i'm french, so excuse my poor english, please.

I've just bought a pair of these cans (5€ !), and received it this morning. At this moment i listen the Clapton's unplugged album (My reference test album). They are absolutely wonderful for the price. The scene is wide, with crystal highs, perfect medium and very good bass. I own AKG K701 cans and beyers are way more drivable straight from my mac book air.

Very good cans in my opinion.

Regards

I have a set of these.  I actually bought  them in the 80's at Myer-Emco.  I love the sound they put out.  I sent them for new foam and a new cable about 8 years ago but they work perfect still. I even have the box still.
Enjoy!!

Excuse me, i'm a little bit late !

I've changed the foams and the bass are really better. Concretely, the first point of comparison with K701 is the confort. Beyers are a way more confortable than the AKG because the head strap is softer and lighter. I'm using my headphones, 8 hours/day and the (more beautiful) k701's head strap is hurting after few hours.
For the sound, in my opinion, they are quite similar, maybe the k701 are a little more open. I prefer the beyer's sound at low level and the akg's one at high level. It's clearly because of the abyssal lack of bass at low level with the K701.

At first, beyers looks cheaper than the AKGs but they are made of very robust quality plastic and I think they will remain "as new" (except for the thin head strap) way more longer than my AKG's.

Regards,

Aurélien
