I'm planning to buy (either Fiio X3 or Fiio E17) and a decent Open Back headphone e.g. either HD 598 or DT 990
I have few inquiries....
1) Which one has better sound quality? HD 598 or DT 990 Premium (32 Ohm ver.) I'll opt for good Soundstage,Clarity and Texture (I'm not a basshead,and I have a Sennheiser HD 449 so bass wise, >=HD449 will be ok for me,But I don't need a can with anemic Bass)
2) I will be listening to mainly Lossless audio..so,Sound quality wise which will be better as a source? (A) My Tablet + Fiio E17 or (B) Fiio X3 only


Any other open-back headphone suggestion is also welcome (Headphone budget = within $350)

You can get the Sennheiser HD558 and remove the black rubber tape from inside the cups, should make it sound somewhat more like the HD598.
The HD558/HD598 will sound a little more reserved, compared to the DT990's strong bass/treble.
 
Personally I would for for the Audio Technica ATH-AD900X.
 
I would say to get the FiiO X3 (over the E17) just store and play your music from the X3.

And there is also kind of limited availability of Portable amps even in Amazon...
Surely I'll buy Fiio X3 as a decent audio source... But If I go for 250 Ohm Cans e.g. DT 990 or Beyer Tesla T90 will Fiio X3 be sufficient?
What will be a good Portable amp for 250 Ohm cans (paired with Fiio X3) ?

(N.B. a Fiio model is preferable because Fiio is well available in Amazon..but almost nothing else here in India )

The FiiO X1 can decently drive the 250-Ohm Beyers, so i would assume it's no problem for the X3.

Okay... I'm opting for these sets -
1. Sennheiser HD 598
2. Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro or DT 990 premium (both 250 Ohm)
3. Beyerdynamic T90 (250 Ohm)
I've read somewhere X3 has same power of Fiio E17,So according to you,X3 will provide enough juice even if I buy Beyer Tesla T90 right?
