I took the dt 1990 as new without warranty for 310 euros, but the problem hasn't reoccurred, let's hope for the best.
Are there examples of dt 1990 that are less sibilant than the others in your opinion?
Do not know if there is a difference between different units of 1990s regarding sibilance nor do I remember reading about it, may be very small differences exist. wantan's quotation above about sonarworks' claim comes to my mind. at beyer they told me back then, cause may be a loosend cable, so I was just unlucky this time. My conclusion would be only to react, if it reoccurred playing the same track or after heavy shaking. I hope you remain lucky!

I’ve done the mod to my balanced pads and love it.
no going back to the analytical pads.
only the older ones which are less bright and better quality than the newer analytical pads.
hope that answers your question.
did you see the mod I did a few pages back to the balanced pads?
I find it really interesting when my son watches YouTubers play certain video games, the majority of them wear these. Love seeing it, but you would think they would wear gaming headphones

I too have seen several YTubers w/ the 1990s. Call me petty, but I tend to subscribe more often to these YTubers who clearly have good taste in headphones
