Well masted albums sound like a dream on the DT1990
Two conclusions:
- DT1990 Pro is a great headphone.
- Don't waste time and money on badly mastered albums.

The DT1990 with EQ to let go of your sensesI will probably buy DT1990 Pro sometime in the future, I got hooked on the wide soundstage and slam of the 990 Pro 250. I have the 900 Pro X in the mail arriving soon and hope I like it too. Mostly hoping I can get a similar sound without having to use EQ, which is a must with the 990. Terrific cans for metal.
Listening to my MDR-Z7M2 right now, I got them to sound a lot like the 990 Pro by raising 6k a few notches, a little extra 10k and a minor bump at 80. The Sonys have more fine grain treble and dynamics are more lifelike, and yes there are more of discoverable micro dynamics, yet not quite the same prat and enthusiasm as the 990 Pro. Considering the 990 costs a fraction of the Z7M2, they are a fantastic deal.
So, somehow, 1990 looks inevitable as in wanting some of the best Beyer can offer, with the added problem of taming its infamous "murder treble". Not a big problem by the PC, as I can just EQ. And that's where the 900 Pro X fits, if it somehow needs less correction than the other two Beyers.
LoL ridiculous hobby, I could just be happy with my HD600 I've had for many years but well ....
The DT1990 with EQ to let go of your senses; the HD600 to return to your senses

Good news is that you can always order a new driver from Beye, - and that they are VERY EASY to change. I have taken mine apart 4-5 times, and also replaced one sidecup because it got damanged ( and I wanted to look like new).... no tools are needed. Some days ago, my left driver lost about half its volume in relation to the right driver. No crackling, no static noise. It's just a lot lower volume in the left. I have not played loud music or had any weird pops from my amp. I've opened them up and looked at the cables and there is no visble damage. I've switched R/L cables inside the headphone and tried a second amp. Still the same result which leads me to believe there is something wrong with the driver. Anyone have an idea about what could cause this and if there is a fix?
Hi all, new to the forum so excuse me if this has been asked already. I wasn't able to find anything about this in the search. I purchased some Dekoni Elite Velour pads and wanted to test them against the B pads, which are my current preferred pads prior to EQ. Although I don't find them particularly hard to swap, they do take some time and I'm finding it hard to compare the sounds between the Dekoni and B pads this way. Is there some kind of a mount or ring I can purchase to make swapping faster?
Congrats on your purchase!
Have you checked out analytical pads?
Congratulations. But I did not understand the last sentence: do you mean 900 sound far superior to the 1990s?The 1990 Pro has arrived!

When not having the possibility to edit the curve, the 900 Pro X are far superior as they sound right direct from the box.
Congratulations. But I did not understand the last sentence: do you mean 900 sound far superior to the 1990s?
Maybe this is the reason why panvarox asks if you did check out the analytical pads.
I did not test the new version of balanced pads, but five years ago these were waste of time, at least for me. I had to change them back after a short listening session.
a>b pads
Balanced pads sound muddy (to me).
