What amp/dac I should use for electro/techno music ?I like the v-shape but the bass and subbass is lacking somewhat
You could use an Ifi idsd signature with it’s a bass boost. Equally you could use eq

Oh dear :) many people will have oh so many opinions on this... First of, watch this:

And yes, he talks about the DT880,- but the same points go for the DT990

And here is my experience:
I have had the S-amp, and it did give a bit more "umph" to the bass,- but don't expect wonders. - SERIOUSLY - we are talking 5 procent here.

When it comes to the amount of bass, - then there will be a difference between powering it with a Dragonfly Red, - and my Ifi Zen-Can. But only when listening at higher listening volumes.

The biggest is from the Xduoo-602... but again,- DON'T EXPECT MIRACLES.
I learned the hard way, that you really can’t change a sound signature. You are much better off getting another headphone then trying to fix one with a warm amp, or dac, or cables... agan, - we are maybe talking 5 percent difference,- if you can get loud enough.

IF you like subbase - try a DT770.
IF you want BASS slam, subbase and so on :) The Sony MDR1A will rock your world.

I can you see the V

Oh this one is easy :)

1. SUB-bass
2. Mids are not pushed back, is it is not a V-shaped headphone
3. Less pricing treble
4. easy to drive...

To put this into more perspective:

The DT990pro has a phenomenal ability to put distance between instruments and single nots. You get a sense of space with them and that’s all great.
This “space” between the single instruments is with the DT990pro filed with “nothing”.

Now, with the DT1990, you how the same spacing and distance between instruments, but all of a sudden there is details between single nots. More often then not you will hear subbass between single notes. You can say that the space between the instruments gets "filled out."

Now when it comes to the “mids” it gets much clearer. Listening to “Black Symphony” from Within Temptation, on the DT990pro, you will have a really hard time hearing detail in Sharon’s voice, as there is A LOT going on, with trumpets, violins, drums and so on…

Link to youtube – not for the sound, but so you have a idea what I mean

BUT – with the DT1990, her voice gets pushed into the front, and the orchestra will be behind her. ( as it should be, as she is the lead singer right? ). But what is really good is, that you will not lose detail from the orchestra, because of the 7-10k rise in frequency response :)

And lastly, it’s EASY to drive. As in a dragonfly red, or a Fiio BRT5 will drive it no problems.

Hope that answers your question.

I have just listened to the first Within Temptation album with the 1990 Pros, what a coincidence!!! :relaxed: I know the first one is different: pure gothic metal, with male grunts and soft female vocals, but I love that album. I also have and love their second album (I have it after the first in my playlist and now I'm listening to it :L3000:). I lost interest in that band when they started to be like "Evanescence", becoming more comercial.

80 ohms or 250 ohms ?
600 ohm :), if you have the 80 ohm or 250 ohm, then even a Dragonfly red will power it just fine... or a Fiio E10K

I got my Dekoni Velour pads today, but they were not what I hoped for, the sound became too mushy with lost detail, it got a little better after cutting off the pads' mesh, but they were still too mushy for my taste, but they were more comfortable I give them that, but I can't sacrifice sound quality for comfort so I have to learn to live with the original pads, hopefully it will get better with time when the clamping force are loosing up.

Plus having different kinds of equipment in our setups.

I always love the quote "hear it how the artist intended it to be" .... LOL.

Think of all the different equipment they had for listening to what they produced. And they had different ears too.

Should be "hear it how the artist intended it to be when being played back on ALL this specific equipment" with the exact hearing capability of the producer ... LOL

I still listen to physical media and I'll read a review from someone who bought a CD or record and they'll report that "this release sounds like garbage!" but I'll buy it and think it sounds great.
You're 100% spot on too.

What the sound engineer intended, using Yamaha HS8 monitoring speakers... Hell, if you can get music to sound good on a HS8, then it will sound good even on beats earbuds...

Me also, I've been through all formats since the late 60's and my preferred listening today is vinyl and EAC ripped FLAC or ripped DSD through a Squeezebox Touch into high rez affordable dacs. Some of my vinyl pressings are jaw dropping (as well as some DSD masterings, but not all). Probably just like the artist intended it NOT to be.
