id say closer to the 660S but maybe 15% less. i mean, i cant say on the 600, never iso tested it.

Post 232 (KMAN1211) on page 16 has pics of the actual vented holes on the cups. The outside design of the cups is not indicative of how open it is. Hope this helps.

Nothing like Grado, that's for sure.

IMO, the DT 1990 Pro should have been called the DT 1880 Pro, i.e semi-open.

That's incorrect.
Beyer state that the DT1990's are an open design. The T1's are classified as 'semi-open', but not the 1990's.

Changing ear pads is a gamble, because of their profound effect on the sound. Clearly the Elite Velour pads are objectively superior, as shown in the FR and waterfall graphs, but I have no way of knowing whether they will suit me subjectively, because I am already very pleased with the beyerdynamic Analytical pads.

Received the Elite Velour pads, tried them out for several days, put them back in the box. They're not for me. Snare drum had a bit too much thump, not enough sizzle. Pacing and excitement of the performance were negatively impacted. Strangely, sibilance became bothersome.

Sibilance is occasionally noticeable with the Analytical pads, but not to the extent that it becomes a problem. I love their fast bass and clean lower midrange. I don't expect to ever change from the Analytical again. Yet another example demonstrating that measurements are not the final determinant of sound quality.

It shouldnt be too much of a big deal, the vents on the DT1990 Pro are slim and not many. compared to the HD660 where its almost entirely open with the cage.

When I got the dt770-80 I found it slightly better sounding than my 58x. So, I thought there is no sense to keep an open back headphone that sound worse than my closed back.
Sold the 58x for 140 EUR, Got the 1990 for 290 EUR (used almost new condition still 1,5 year warranty)

I only hope that the treble is not problematic. Online there are mixed review, half of them complain about the piercing highs, the other half is fine. Hope I am in the good half

Anyway, very ecxited to try the 1990.

I also want to upgrade from a DT990 to 1990 specifically for metal. I'm looking for even more separation, clarity in the cymbals, fast double kick pedal, guitar strings vibration......
