the funniest part is that anybody who has ever bought a pad with fabric in the middle(which is like 90% of them) and swapped it onto a BD headphones knows it basically tames the treble. IMO I think they know this and offer it raw knowing that adding so many different pads doesn't ruin the sound and anyone with half a brain who has even bought a pad figures this out in 2 seconds.I personally agree I find Sennheiser is overpriced compare to Beyer and there are many subpar headphones from Sennheiser which are sadly rated better than they should be. Beyers in general have better drivers imho, just many complain about their treble especially in the past so they often overlook what their drivers were capable of. I think Beyerdynamic is slowly getting more of the recognition they deserve among the audiophile community and they have a solid lineup with a lot of variety in terms of sound signatures. Their importance to this hobby is often understated, they started it all basically with the first dynamic and hi-fi headphone and are the oldest headphone company.
Not sure what’s been with Sennheiser lately, they seem to be in a transition stage and not sure if they’re going to come out of it ahead. I hope they do as I would like to see some interesting stuff come out from Sennheiser, but their more recent releases just haven’t been as good as Beyers as a whole imho and there are big price gaps in their lineup.
For me
DT1990 -> Dekoni Choice Leather
DT990 -> Custom Focuspad-A modded
both with fabric in the middle
