Has anyone tried this? I brought my DT880 to a local audio boutique with this amp, however the owner refuses to let me try it, saying "headphones not bought from my shop".
So how does the beyer A1 pair with its own products?

X3. That's crazy. I wouldn't do business with that shop if it was the last shop on earth. I love my local headphone/amp shop. 32 Ohm welcomes everyone to bring their own phones and amps to demo their products with.

Sorry I didn't answer your question.

And a comparison to my Meier Corda Opera:

I don't have much experience with really high quality amps, but compared to my Meier Corda Opera, the A1 was better, but too expensive.
Please note that the A1 cost $1300 back then.

The Beyer A1 is a great headphone amplifier that works brilliantly with Beyer headphones.

I wholeheartedly agree. The A1 sounds fantastic with every beyerdynamic headphone I have plugged into it, as well as every other model I have tried so far. Also looks much better in real life than it does in pictures. Totally beautiful. Dramatically improves the sound of my speakers when used as a preamp as well.
