I think there could be some info about those clone amps at diyaudio.com. Faintly remember I read something about those. They also sell assembled pcb's at ebay.

Would love to know how it compares to the original A1.

I once had a similar A1 clone, Fang Audio FA-1. It came with 230V setup, so I must modify toroidal transformer (Noratel, 15V+15V 1A+1A).
Of course, FA1 is not a YS-A1. But I imagine the sound is similar.
It seems that the main circuit board of YS-A1 is almost identical to FA-1. YS-A1's toroidal transformer is bigger than FA1.
The original A1 transformer is smaller (15V+15V, 0.5A+0.5A). So YS-A1's big transformer is only an ornament.
Chemical capacitances of YS-A1 seem to be different from FA1 (FA1 capacitances are made by Panasonic).

The noise level of FA1 is high. If you use low-Z and high sensitivity mobile headphones, you can hear remarkable white noise.
When I changed MC33078 to JRC MUSES 8820, the noise was decrease (but still audible).
The sound of FA1 is not so bad, it is warm and smooth. I recommend high-Z (250ohm - 600ohm) headphones.

Finally, I sent FA1 to a trash box, because I'm boring cheap chassis and poor looking.
But I believe FA1 is worth enough 200USD.
