Beyerdynamic 250-80 vs Senn 590

HD590 is better for your musical tastes, without any question whatsoever. Consider the 250-80 only if you need a full-sized closed headphone that's forgiving, durable, comfortable and doesn't need an amp.

The beyers provide isolation as well. If you are going to be listening in a noisy room, or just dont want to be distracted by outside noise, go for the closed cans.

Is the 250-80 really that much worse than the 590, if the answer is yes, which closed headphone would be comparable to the 590? To Eyepod IIRC you recommended the 250s to me a while back for cs. Have you tried the 590s with cs, if yes which one is better?

the hd590 has better soundstage while the DT250 has a more forgiving sound meaning that signal noice which is very present when using a computer as a source will be subdued or at least not magnified. Additionally, the closed nature of the beyers also shield you from the computers physical noise. I would expect the hd590 to be a rather noisy experience on the whole...

For computer use (this includes gaming) I would recommend the 250s handily over the 590s.

If you are looking for pure sound quality I think there are better choices in this price range for home listening (all would be open cans).

I have the 250 for a year now and run off a pc I love them if you want good base and don't have a amp I do really like these. For games wow they have great bass and good sound. Although I use them for music mostly.

If you like midrange, DT250-80 is better. If you like bass and/or treble, HD590 whoops DT250-80's ass. (note that HD590 can potentially be upgraded w/ a cable purchase to alleviate the midrange problem). DT250-80 is better for counterstrike. If you can push your budget a bit ($200), the ATH-A900 is closed, good for gaming, and is well-balanced throughout. The HD280 should also be considered as a lower-budget all-around solution. (I'm assuming you don't have an amp).

I really would recommend the A900's over all the others. Why not check out the Sony CD780's? I just ordered them for $69 shipped brand new. Read the reviews and listen to some reviews here. I'm also quite curious to see what else they say about them besides the emphasis on comfort.
