I've never seen, or heard of them before. I can tell by the graphics on the manual that they are pretty old. Although I'm very interested. Are they any good? I just hope it's not another one of those Photoshop jobs.

It's real. At least, the amp is (a search pulled up an ebay.de auction for the Beyer electrostatic amp pictured).

I realize this is way after the fact, but...

The headphones in the photo are Beyer Dynamic's ET-1000 which is an electrostatic model introduced in 1976. The N-1000 refers to the adapter box which is necessary to drive the speakers.

The N-1000 adapter needs AC power, and speaker power from your amplifier is routed through the N-1000 and then on to the speakers.

Best regards,
Rob

They're good 'phones for their era. So I hope you or some other HFer (heifer?) won this UK example that went for GBP 26.50, less than $50 US-- that's without transformer box.

Thanks for the update on the Beyer Dynamic's ET-1000's. I wonder would it be possible to use these with an amp other than the N1000, like the new SinglePower ES1 or other, if you had a mind to? Also, how straight forward it might be, or would some adapters need to be made, if even possible.

It shouldn't be a problem building an amp for these if the bias voltage is known and the pinout for the connector. Nearly all stats work on the same technology and can be made to work with any stat amp. Just today I converted a NOS set of Magnavox 1A9217 stats for use with a Stax amp. They were OEM Stax and had the same connector but a different pinout and after about an hour both the phone and the energizer were converted to the Stax standard.

I was tempted to bid on those for possible staxification, but ive been saving my pennies for something even better...

If you have time, please post diagrams/photos of this conversion. There are many Realistic HP-100 and Magnavox 1A9217 owners who'd like to plug in to, say, an SRD-7 or an SRM-717. Thanks.
