The local pro-music shop claims they're same as 2005/2006 premiums, but with "cheaper" looking cups, but everything should be the same.

What are those?

The reason I am intrested is that the cost half of premiums, as much as pros.

Any1 knows and have listened? How do they sound? Or are they just Pros with different looks?

You mean the Premium Line 2005/2006? Yeah, I have owned 2005s for a while, and for sure they arent the new ones.

I am intrested to know are they just another version of Pro headphones. The dealer says it is internally exactly the same as the 2005, but I somehow doubt it cos the price is 139 euros vs. 270 euros. It just cant be true.

It's the DT-990 as it was made for the years between 1985 and 2003.

I bet if you call michael manny at beyer usa and ask, he'll tell you that the 600-ohm versions all use the same driver.

. . . which is not to say that the new version wouldn't sound slightly different due to the metallic cups.

The old version also has a plastic disc in it with a donut of felt on it, and a 1" hole in the center. Whether or not the new dt990 has the same damping disc would have a big impact as well.

It's a good headphone for sure. You could get 'em for as little as $165 a couple years ago.
