I'm looking to get my first set of audiophile headphones (Sony v6's don't seem to get me into the club) and I think I'm gonna get some Beyer Dt880's with either a bottlehead crack or a sunrise project amp.
 
Anyways I'm poor so to save money I'll probably buy used. However, it seems there are different generations of the dt880? Some newer some older... Do they sound different and if so how do I tell the difference? Anything to look for?
 
Also it appears they can be converted for double entry. Is there a link to the pro's/cons of doing this? It'd be great if there were.

^^ he's asking about different model years, not whether he should a 32, 250, or 600 ohm.

The newest generation has a rounded cup where the most recent older model has flat cups.  I don't know anything beyond that though...
