Okay, I've had several iPods now and you know they only times the screen has ever been scratched? When I use a screen protector!

The first was a flexible plastic window sewed in a leather 1G case no longer made (can't remember name), and today the with the harder plastic XSkn iShade. When I had no screen protection (without case or with pouch like Foofpod) it was fine. But I get nervous and covered it up and in both cases something rubbed against protector scratching the screen. Ugh. Just a warning to consider.

why not use an lcd soft cover. the transparent plastic film that you can put onto PDAs, or digicam LCDs, and the like.
Those are soft, and protect it. plus no bulk from the hard plastic crap.
Just MHO

The screen protection products from Powa Sapo (www.powersupportusa.com) and iSkin are typically excellent. I should note that the silicon pads on the bottom of the iSkin Screen Saver tend to cause abrasion marks where they contact the surface of the iPod after extended usage.
