I have listened to both and I preferred the Oritek V4.1 and since you do not need an USB interface another reason to go with the Oritek V4.1. Good luck.

Ori have done me a 4.2 version, with many improvments
Also
It cost less than the Bench, and include headphones amp and a Pre amp

What makes the Oritek so much better than the stock Zhaolu? Has anyone listened to the stock unit and Oritek side by side?

There is a huge older Zhaolu Thread that I have not read in quite some time. Do a search, I believe there was some good discussions in it including a comparison (I do not swear by it, my old memory is not as good as that of you young chaps.

The OMZ is in a different class of audio players. You'd better compare it against top-notch CD players, to be fair with the stock Zhaolu !
