I am considering purchasing a Beta 22 amp from a fellow Headfier.
The only problem is that its a 220 volt unit, and I need it to work off standard US 110/120 volts.
How hard is it to convert it to 120 volt?
What steps are involved?
Would an external 220 volt to 120 volt adapter from Amazon, Best Buy, etc. work?
Thanks for your help and advice.

Depending on the builder it is actually is fairly simple operation to mod the PSU. You'll find quite a few tech savvy guys here on HF that will be able to do it.

Source: I sold a B22 last year to a guy in EU who changed it from 110V- > 220V.

Ask the seller if he can give you a part number off the PSU transformer.  If that part number has dual primary windings, then as johangrb says, it's a pretty straightforward mod.  If it doesn't, then you have to factor in the cost of replacing the transformer in your purchase price. With a part number, you can get the voltage and current details you will need to find out how much the replacement would be(plus the cost of someone replacing it for you, if you don't have skills or don't know anyone who does).

I'm also interrested
Is something like this trustable:

http://www.adaptoo.com/transformateur-110v-220v-reversible-puissance-nominale-500w-crete-650w.html ?

(for me it would be this one: http://www.adaptoo.com/transformateur-100-v-220-v-reversible-500-watts-japon.html for a stax SRM 323S)

The current would be "flat" and "stable" (don't know how to say it in english)?
