Hey guys I was wondering what's the best way to test a song to be sure it's playing at the bit rate its supposed to and not just getting down sampled?

Audacity has an audio spectrum analyzer. http://spek-project.org/ is a lightweight alternative just for this. Typically lossless will reach 22000hz and transcodes will cut off at lower frequencies. That's not always the case though.

funny that you say that, I just came about this audacity program but wasn't exactly sure how to tell whether or not my computer was playing back true lossless. I'll check the spectrum analyzer and see what I come up with, thanks! Any way to check if the bitrate is 16 or 24? Well I guess If its playing at the correct hz then it should be playing at correct bitrate as wel.
