What is the best way to connect an iPod to a desktop amp? LOD to RCA cable or iPod dock? What brands? Thank you.

Lod is the best because it's an unamped signal. You can get a 30 pin dock with a 30 pin cable connection, then line out cable to amp.

I think that cable is way over priced,

They sell it on ebay as well. Looks like a decently made cable. Maybe a little overpriced but it would probably cost the same for a custom build.

While I was researching, I found that the are cables that cost more than $500!!! Wonder how they differ from the more economical cables...
