So I'm planning to buy a Sennheiser HD 650 or 600 and I've been looking at price tracking websites and it seems the price fluctuates a lot. I was wondering is there a specif period of time that I could expect the price to be the lowest and what would be the reason behind it?

The prices on the major retailer's sites have mostly been around the ~$400 mark. However, if you don't mind going the used route, I think that you can reliably pick them up for ~$350. I would recommend purchasing this way not only so you can get a slightly cheaper price, but also because in case you decide you don't like the sound signature, you can trade back for something more to your liking.
