New Head-Fier
Hi,
I am looking for a new set of headphones, I've always listened with closed backs until I purchased some Fidelio X2HR's. I swapped the pads on the Fidelio's for Dekoni Choice Leather pads, and they were very much like a closed back in terms of sub bass, but with a nice wide soundstage.
BUT..........
I managed to to find a brand new Teac HA-501 headphone amplifier (which I had wanted for some time), and the Fidelio's sound awful on it, they are probably too low of an impedance for such an amp, despite having an adjustable damping factor.......they still sound distorted on it. Whereas my DT770 Pro's sound better and I have switched back to them.
But now I have been accustomed to a wide open headphone with a similar sound to the DT770's in terms of bass response, I find myself wanting a higher impedance set of open backs, but with great sub bass.
What have you gius found to be the sub bass open back kings?
