I am getting my dad some IEM's for xmas and all he listens to are low-fi sermons (aka 64kbps or lower mostly). Which IEM would be best SOLELY FOR SPOKEN WORD?

er6i
super.fi 3
e3c

well has he used any IEM before? If I'm correct the er6i and sf3 come with different stock sleeves, with the er6i having the more deep-inserting ones. If I'm not talking out my butt, go sf3.

Seems like the E2s would be OK (lower bass) as long as you don't use the foamies. The e2Gs are on sale at amazon for $61.65 . I use both the E4s and the E2Cs for audio books. Isolation is the key for the spoken word and both shures work superbly in that respect!

Agreed, it seems as if Koss Plugs would be the best for speech. $20 cheap, good enough isolation, and a lifetime warranty. What more could you ask for?

While you guys are making sense...think about it this way, its a gift to his dad for X-mas. The thought is just as important as what he needs. Whether he really needs $150 IEMs for just speech is a different question all together.

Honestly, if you want my opinion...I wouldn't get any of your choices.

Get him Bose Triport IEs. **ACK! Can't believe I just said that.**

1) He's heard of Bose and think they are high quality cause of those stores he sees around the mall.
2) I dunno how your pops will like IEMs, but the Triports will play it safe as they were no where near as intrusive as the choices you mentioned.

The whole point of IEM's is for business trips and long overseas flights... isolation is a must... lol
