My girlfriend has taken very good care of me the last week, ive had strep AND the flu, and a lot of the time she spent doing homework she had her crappy $20 philips clip on headphones on, and as i look at my grados and ultrasones i can only feel inclined to order her a pair as sort of a thank you gift/you need good headphones gift.

I was thinking a pair of audio-technicas or something. the "dj-style" headphones she seems to like the most, aka a kind she can fold up and throw in her bag or put around her neck and angle the drivers flat so they're more comfortable (her old big pair of headphones broke cause they were crap and *o.O skullcandy -vomits (and not from the flu!)*

so im looking for a sub retail $150 pair of cans (or anything i can get around $100 on ebay) that are good for hip hop and the occational metal song (she listens to mainly Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, etc.
No need for boomy bass like 770's but a little kick is good.

Maybe some low end Ultrasones (she loves my 750's) or "dj" style cans or some sort.

thanks in advance!

Buddy, making 3 of the same thread won't help anyone. I'm sure you just pressed on the submit new thread button 3 times on accident though. I did see some HFI 700s for $100 on ebay. I'll try to find them. Or on A-gon, there's a pair of HFI 780s for only $135/best offer. I almost want to buy those.

Yep, Ultrasone HFI/PRO/DJ1, are great bass cans.

Hey may I suggest for a bit more money, but to really WoW her. Phiaton headphones. They are very sleek looking headphones with sound to match. Reviews I've seen so far all say their sound matches of those of its competitors in the same price range, but look way better.

They are DJ style and fold up well.

Phiaton | Premium Personal Audio Gear

She'll freak out with these for sure.

Review from stereophile

And I know Markl here on Head-Fi reviewed a Phiaton also.

I read the review and I was on board up until they said it sounds midway between HD280 and k701, which are two headphones I have no interest in buying.

Any headfiers want to buy these and review them? or are they too pretty?

The stereophile review seemed to imply that the price was midway between the HD280 and the k701, not the sound. At least, that is how I read it.

You're right! I'm back on board, on my very long wish list they go.
