Hey guys! I was wondering what the best SMB CD would be in terms of SQ as well as tracks. I was leaning toward the "Young Hearts" album, but I think it's been re-mastered.
i have the silver pegasus box set and whilst i cant comment on other box sets, the production sounds good to me, i think it was released in 94 a time when there wasnt an overt requirement to turn the volume up and distort levels.
however there are a fair few digitally remastered tracks either @ '90 or '94
but i havent noticed any untoward issues.
i would have liked the boxset to include more material from the eighties, circa abracadabra, a lot of it is early recordings and blues
but a great collection to have and comes with a book type thingy inside.
Well his 'Greatest Hits 1974-1978' was issued on DCC back in the day and will be the best SQ you will get. I have the young hearts disc and the first half of the disc - the older stuff - is the best, the newer stuff I didn't care for at all.
So, if you're willing to put your money into quality recordings, the DCC is the way to go. It's more expensive and hard to find, but if you really want the best, that's it.
