I currently have an 8GB Creative Zen. Overall, I've been fairly pleased with the DAP, but would like to upgrade to a 16GB unit.

I'm basically looking for the best 16GB SQ player for the lowest price. Also, quality sounding custom EQ is important.

As far as the feel, I prefer anything from neutral to a bit warm. I will be using ne-7m's and eventually higher quality IEM's down the road.

Obviously I am going to recommend the S639 especially when you can import them from AdvancedMP3Player (minus VAT, weak pound) for a low low $145 (this is before applying any valid discount coupon).

LOL....I actually bought the s639's at AMP for $140 about 3 hours ago. GREAT GREAT price I thought, so I had to jump on it.

Sony NWZ-A829 (or A729, if you don't want/needbluetooth). Sounds excellent and has a customisable EQ.

I think Philips SA5295 is pretty good for it's price point, sound quality and features.

X2 times 100 here

I bought it for its low price (16 GB, Bluetooth, 80 Euros), and I must say the firmware is crappish, but the sound - wow, this thing made me see that Ipods are defenitely NOT the top of the line; there is a lot of room concerning sq coming from an Ipod. Still, I am curious to find out about the Sony players.

And I thought Sony's product naming were bad...
