Best Sound reproduction/analytical

I dunno what the best are, but i seen them use Sony mdr V6 and AKG K240M. Also, metronome cans and closed cans. The great sennhd600 is only used when users prefer this. 100 dollars a can seems like normal studio budget. I was surprised, but I seen pics of pro label companies using v6. These are decent, but all the great phones you see here are MUCH more crazy!
THOSE cans are EXTREMELY analytical.

Sennheiser 280 is the classic analytical can. Their bass is quite weak though, so if you mix so that the bass sounds good in them, people on other 'phones might find the bass too much.

Something like the A900 or AKG 271 might be good, and the 271 has the advantage that it auto-mutes when you take them off your head.

The best headphone which stays truest to the recording is the HD650 properly amped. Otherwise stick to something like DT250-80s.

By properly amped, I mean a headroom blockhead and a minimum of something like a meridian 588 source.

hello, it seems that i am alone in this, but iirc it has been mentioned many many many many times that few/no phones can compare, analysis-m-wise, to etys.

Probably the BEST for analytical listening would be a pair of the famous joe grado hp-1000's amped with a melos sha-1.

But, realistically as far as availability, I would say the ety er4s would best fit the analytical role.

Hm.. Etymotic ER-4S springs to mind

Also, the ultrasone HFI-650Trackmaster is very good for analysing.

What do most engineers use?
A range of stuff

I've seen the Beyer DT150, Sony V6 (and 7506), various AKG Models and Beyer DT250 to name a few.

Depends on what the mix is, what the goal is, price range, etc.

What are you looking for, what are you doing, what are you mixing (if at all), etc?
