Without an amp, this is the best setup I found. Need a 3rd gen ipod or mini for this to work.
The volume may be a little too lound for some, but it works for me. I believe you can buy a level attenuator from Radio Shack for $5. This method cleans up the sound and extends the bass deeper. Having the sound check on keeps the volume the same for all songs so you don't have to worry about not having to use the volume control. The bass boost has no distortion through the line-out and fills out the etys quite nicely.
edit: I just realized the sound check doesn't effect the line-out so a level attenuator is needed.
- Turn Bass Boost on in the eq setting
- Turn Sound Check on
- Plug headphones directly into line-out port of the dock or into the sik din or imp
