Hi there! This is my first post!
I am relatively new to electronics and I am currently making my second cmoy to give to a friend. After seeing how much use I put mine through I figured that it would be worth it to try a rechargeable 9v battery. I couldn't find any definitive answer for which is best so I figured I'd ask here!

I am just looking to use a single 9v on this build. Nothing fancy, at least not yet

A 9V NiMh rechargeable is a good choice for a cmoy, although l prefer to use 2.

Exactly which one to choose really depends on where you live, and availability in the local market.

I live in New York. Should I just get a run of the mill energizer/duracell or try a 9.6v or something similar? I've tried looking a couple of them up but im not sure if it's worth it to get something I don't have any experience with.

The battery market is a fast-changing scene. You can get these lithium based batteries with 500mAh nominal:

These will make a difference to how long the amp runs between charges, but, IMO, make no difference otherwise.

An off-the-shelf Duracell would be my choice if I was in a hurry, which I usually am.
