I made a decision to cancel my order of the AKG K701 and go for the HD 650. Lowest I have seen with shipping on the HD650 is $305. It is still high.

~$300 is about as low as I've seen for a pair of new 650's over the past year or so. They do come up fairly often for sale here, though.

I just bought a pair of HD650 from Todd the Vinyl Junkie (http://www.ttvj.com) and am very happy with the purchase.

Price was $319. Ground was $8 and Priority was $12. If you have never shopped there before, you can get a $10 discount by signing up there. Ordering via the website was quirkly, so I just called him up and placed the order.

Probably not the cheapest price you can get, but he is an authorized dealer, so I will be able to extend my warranty from 2 to 5 years at the Sennheiser USA website.

Only listened to them for two days, but am very, very happy with my purchase and think these will be keeper headphones.

EDIT: just found this $5 Pricegrabber review bonus, so I can drop my total cost from $321 to $316.

I got mine for £194 off a website here in the UK, which is EXTREMELY cheap for 650's here! A main high fi distributor sells them for more then £300, which comes to over $500. Man you guys in the US are darn lucky.

The best I've seen is some guy on ebay, he was selling them for $279, but he was charging like $15 for shipping!
