I can recommend the cypher labs solo db & duet combo stack. It works with apple and android and it rocks! It's not a all in one combo but it's boss.

what's the difference between the algorhythm solo R and the DB? just balanced and 24/196 playback capability?

Solo R is only for apple products and solo db is balanced and apple, and android.

so if I use an iPod and I don't plan to go balanced I should go with the R?

I have not had the pleasure to hear the OG cypher labs solo but others have said its is a great dac. You can find them at a great price. I chose solo db because I love android and I also have a iPad mini. But if iPod is your cup of tea then I would go with solo or solo R. But that's just me.
