... Hey Everyone ... My Uncle is quite a fan of shuffling his albums at home during long listening sessions ... His long-lived ADCOM GCD-700 5 DISK CHANGER just died on him & he's looking for a replacement, as well as an upgrade ... He has really, REALLY nice components outside of his source components and he really needs a great redbook player that will shine in his system ... However, he NEEDS a CHANGER ...

... Are there any great changers being made anymore ? ... Wadia, Arcam, and Denon didn't have any I noticed ... Price Range = 2,000 USD & BELOW ...

Well, you can do better than a changer... buy a Slim Devices Transporter. It's $2K (alot less if you buy used) and you can buy a 500GB external network hard-drive for about $200 to back up all your music. It'll sound WICKED good and be much more elegant than a changer.

Sony makes (or made) an SACD ES series changer (often available on eBay) that's built like the rest of their ES series. Plug in a Chord DAC64 to that and you've got a world-class redbook. Of course, there are many other DACs that work well -- just use the changer as a transport and be sure the DAC is up to the task of reclocking to avoid jitter.

That said, a purely digital hard drive solution using a computer, Trends UD-10 ,a Paradesia DAC and the amp of your choice will also get you there; without the hassles of CD's once your've got everything ripped.
