Hey, my HD58X died and I'm looking for the best open headphone for around that price in the market right now. I also used to have an AKG K701 and while the soundstage is good the sound is a bit too bright. I also use a FIIO E10K Olympus 2.
I listen to my music at home and I'm pretty eclectic so an all rounder would be good, but I especially love post-hardcore, post-rock, shoegaze...
Are there better alternatives compared to the HD58x right now ?
Thank you for your suggestions

There are so many options, I'll just throw in the Philips X2HR. $130-150 new, about $80 used.

So many choices, so little dollars :dt880smile: . I would recommend mid tier Grado's, but some people notice a bit harshness in the highs, although I don't (there ARE some advantage to being a senior citizen). Sennheiser 6 series are great all rounders and many consider one of the first TOL headphones to come out. Also, I like the Beyer's, but again, they aren't for everyone....

For used the Hifiman HE5xx is terrific, I use a pair for a daily driver. Beyerdynamic DT77O 250 ohm is on sale at eBay new for $119 and they're terrific and not too bright. The sub bass extension is really fun if your not used to being able to hear it in songs.

There are used hd6xx on the market at the $150 mark. You'll have to hunt around a bit to find one there, but I can't think of a better headphone at the $150 price point.

You can find the AKG K702 for $172 on Amazon - its a little out of your price range, but a very good headphone. You can likely get it cheaper elsewhere also. Oh, Hifiman has some nice cheaper stuff in the 400i range. They go on sale for $80 a lot. Good luck, and finding something used will save you some $$$
