Hi. Looking for good open headphones for around $150. Can include used ones for around that price. They need to be comfy and have really good detail. They need to be balanced. Any ideas?

Sony MDR MA900's, Grado SR225i's, Audio Technica ATH AD900X,
and a few others which I don't like quite as much as those three.
 
The used market will present you with a much broader variety, of course -
and you never know what bargain(s) will show up!

Stuck between grado and audio technica. Isnt the sr225i uncomfortable though? Which would you say has better clarity and an all around better sound stage?

Try to get some used AKG K70x, maybe you'll need to add $20-30.

Agreed with those who said AD900 or MA900.  Both can be found in the used price range of around 120-140 dollars.  HD598 is also a great pair of headphones too that can be scored used around 150 sometimes.

For that price this is the headphones I would buy going by reviews. I am thinking of buying them but have to ship from USA>Canada which I don't like to do.
 
I had HD598 but they were no real upgrade from HD595 that I used to have so want something else.

Yeah, id say the mdr ma900, though if you can't afford it, id say the hd558.

I know! I have them and I like them. But I was wondering if there was a better open headphone that would be for home listening. One that was maybe a step up from the m50's

Mdr ma900 will just make you not wanna use that m50 of yours.  It makes all closed headphones sound very congested and small.

Not all hehehe, the w1000x  would put the MDR ma900  into a reality check [ofc it's not a bad can at all just different] 
 
Still the Byer Dt 990 Pro would be a good headphone as well, the bass is a little to much for every genre imo. But if your used to the M50 the Dt 990 should be and excellcent upgrade for ya! Plus some ppl like the 990 bass with all genres!
