I'm after a pair of headphones for my brother after my puppy decided his headphones tasted great. I don't want to get a dynamic phone. Apart from that, as long as it's around $300 or less, I'm all ears. This price would need to include everything necessary to run them (unless they can be run from a speaker amp, which I have).

I'm particularly looking for delicate and clean reproduction of sound, even if bass is not prominent (but it must be prominent enough to hear easily). I realise my price range is limiting, but I wanted to see what I could get without looking into dynamic phones.

Thanks in advance.

Used BabyStax SR-001 unit, plus change for a CD. Great little headphones, for home and portable.

Nuff said. They're fabbo.

x2 on the Stax SR-001mk2.
Its a great little planar system, with its own portable amplifier.

You 'might' be able to score a vintage Stax system with energizer for less than $300 as well. Example an SR-X/MK3 or SR-Lambda with SRD-7.
