I'm helping a colleage at work find a new PCDP. I bought a Panasonic SL-CT470 back when it was new, and he's been listening to it and enjoys it. We're trying to find a comparable sound quality in a NEW portable, he does not want to deal with searching for an older one. Brick and mortar stores are preferable in case its not up to expectations so it can be returned.
I've looked into Panasonic's current SL-CT520, 710, 810, 720, 820, and they all appear to have the "d-amp" output circuits and no line-out. I'm leery of those since the only d-a is through the digital amp. He will probably be using it mainly with an external amp (MINT), so line-out is a must.
