Best Netbook?

Easy killers!

I just thought it was pretty, i schoulda put that in there...haha

Ive got an Asus N10 with the GeForce card in it, plays alota games impressively smooth. Not very fast otherwise, though ive only used an eee 1000, so i have little to compare to...
...for being an IT, i know little about the netbook world. It seems like a new one comes out every day.

Pretty much. It's a good thing though, current iterations are all flawed in some way, so the faster they evolve the better.

Is a picturebook just for uh... pictures? I like the vaio p overall, but if it's not meant to be as functional as a normal laptop/netbook, I'll pass.

For that money, I'd rather buy a full blown notebook. I'm buying a netbook for my sister as a late Christmas present but honestly I don't see me having one of these anytime soon. I can't stand anything smaller than 12".

I feel the same way. I wouldn't want a laptop that small either. The one thing I love about her netbook, however, is that it's not cumbersome when we're laying in bed. Using her work laptop (and ENORMOUS Dell Beastspiron) really bothers me with the light, noise, and space it takes up.

I just skinned it for her with some girly looking vinyl skin, so I don't think I'll be taking her 'One' out in public much anymore.

I'm rather looking forward to what netbooks come out this year. SSD prices dropping like a bomb. The new silver-zinc battery. New processors. Windows 7. The fun.

That said,
The current ultimate netbook IMHO would be the Dell Mini 12. Just shove a large capacity SSD into it and it's the perfect audiophile transportable source. Fanless, long-lasting battery life, uBuntu/Windows option? Absolutely wonderful.

i've been on a netbook craze recently, esp. with all the coverage of new netbooks at CES. The future $200 ones from Coby and Freescale interested me the most, as the 8.9 inch form seemed to me to be the perfect compromise between size and cost (The ASUS EEE 701 is still a little too much like a toy for me.)

Unfortunately, I got impatient (it was estimated that the Freescale ones would be shipping in Q2 09, provided that a bigger brand licenses the OEM) and started looking around. Finally discovered that Dell was offering 20% off on its refurbished Dell Mini 9s, which had already been cut in price to $299 from $349 (probably to clear out inventory before the Dell Mini 10 hits).

So i basically ended up with a Dell Mini 9, 8 GB SSD, 1GB memory and XP for $252 incl. taxes. Looking forward to getting it soon

May just wait a little longer the choices are getting harder MSI,ACER
and HP all offering nice units plus running Windows 7 beta seems to
work if they don't bloat it to death on final release.

well i know i found the vista betas better than vista when it was launched, i do believe vista is mostly fixed now and i rather like it infact, so much that for the fist time in forever ive not really been eager to slap the new windows beta on my comp as soon as i could get a copy

I have a friend that got a ACER netbook and tried to run Vista it was to much
of a resource hog it was never meant to run on the low specs of a netbook.
But he said XP works just fine took a chance with 7 beta and said it was almost as fast.

I have not tried XP and I do not have a copy of Vista but soon as I got mine and after i had a look at Linux for 5 mins i put Windows 7 on, it's running fine with even 512mb of RAM.

I am going to upgrade the RAM to 1.5G shortly so i can put like Office and Photoshop on it but at the moment it run Firefox, WMP for Divx all perfectly.
