I have a lot of over ear headphones, but most of them are quite large and heavy (what can I say, I have a type). The lightest & thinnest headphones I own are the Stella's.


I'd like to have a lightweight pair for 3 reasons: for the sake of it, for travel, and for my VR setup. Assuming there's no budget, what is the absolute best over-ear portable (or close to portable) headphones?


Any perspectives, suggestions, or ideas are greatly appreciated.

They may not be the best but I assume you have considered the ever affordable Koss Ksc75 I love mine. I use mine for vr and they are great. Downsides are less bass than you are used to and you look daft.

I am anticipating the arrival of some Audio-Technica ATH-R70x, which got raves when they were released half a decade ago. They are supposed to be neutralish studio-reference cans that got widely praised for lightness and comfort. Haven't received them yet to try them, but you can find the reviews here:

Dan Clark Audio EON series should be a strong contender.
I always wanted to hear the EON Closed, or now the EON Noir Closed.
